In the book, health healing and religion a cross-cultural perspective by david kinsley, he discusses illness and healing and how it is practiced in different religions. He talks about the types of healers and the causations of illness of people. He talks about the natural world and how they are living things that have souls. In chapter one he states, human beings too, or human beings especially, are believed to possess a soul (or sometime several souls) that underlies their very life and defines their essence (kinsley, p 6). Kinsley talks about the types of spirits such as deities, ancestors, ghost, and other human beings. Further into the chapter, he talks about causation of illness and how they are cured by healers. I agree that illness can be brought upon a person if they do something that is disrespectful in culture.
