Document Summary

Militarism is everywhere and although many americans do not believe so, it is the truth. (cid:863) Cynthia enloe: (cid:862)militaris(cid:373) is the step b(cid:455) step process by which a person or thing gradually comes to be controlled by the military or comes to depend for its well-being on militarist ideas. (cid:863) Catherine lutz: (cid:862)[militaris(cid:373) is] (cid:374)ot just overt atte(cid:373)pts to e(cid:454)pa(cid:374)d the (cid:373)ilitar(cid:455) s authorit(cid:455) globally, nationally and locally, but the camouflage that prevents our seeing how the widespread acceptance of a military definition of a situation marginalizes other views. Militarism is located all around us yet no one notices. Example: united airlines allows veterans in uniform to board all aircrafts before anyone else, including those in first class. Images are also included around schools with pictures of some in the army.
