Federalism: a way of organizing a nation so that 2 or more
levels of government have formal authority over the same
area and people
You have to listen to your grandparents (national
government) and parents (state government)
11/190 nations are federalists: most are unitarian
Unitary government: when all powers reside in a central
government
Things are faster this way
Confederation: when the national government is very weak and
states have almost all the power
