When khrushchev takes over, after stalin dies in 1953. He gives this image that he is going to be a much more reasonable leader. Khrushchev announces to the world that the block nations (members of the warsaw pact) can get a freedom as long as they remain loyal to communism. In hungary, the nagy is going to listen to this and he is going to grant the hungarian people some freedom. People are allowed to start practising their religion. At this point, khrushchev issues a warning.
