PSY 4140 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Environmental Science & Technology, Epigenome, Vasoconstriction
Document Summary
The gonads of the developing fetus are the focal point of sex determination. By default, the gonadal precursor will differentiate into an ovary; formation of a testis requires a transcription factor coded for the sry gene on the y chromosome. All other primary and secondary sex characteristics depend on hormones secreting from the testes or ovaries at specific points later on in development. Changes in the epigenome of the histomes are a component of sexual differentiation of the brain that are not yet fully understood. Inter-individual variability in sna is thought to be a limitation currently. Differences in sna in: young women and older women, young women and young men, young women and older men, young men and older women, young men and older men. Sino-aortic denervation = long term bp control was not altered; procedure was done on already hypertensive animals.
