The stroop efect is the inability to ignore one part of the simuli: failure of selecive atenion. Atenion (cont. : novelty, size, movement, emoions can enhance atenion, emoion-induced blindness: atenion blind spot right ater emoional event. : you get in a car accident, and the police ask what you did next but you can"t recall what you did next. Perceptual set: the set of simuli makes you focus on certain parts of the simuli, ignoring others. Sensory adapion: change in responsiveness of sensory system, based on level of surrounding simulaion (darkened room, bright outdoors, example: touching your desk. You"ll feel it at irst but once your focus is on something diferent, you won"t noice the feel of the desk: extrasensory percepion (mind reading) Perceive thoughts or events in the absence of concrete sensory input. Stories/experiences that seem to support esp not rigorous. Wavelength: distance between peaks: perceived as hue, some wavelengths beyond human sensaion. Amplitude: height of wave: perceived as brightness.
