Broadcast radio: bluetooth (802. 15, wi-fi (802. 11, wi-max (802. 16, cell phone network (802. 16m) Devices known as access points or routers, are used to connect wireless and wired network. Once access point or router provides enough of a signal to support a small group of computers within a range of one foot to several hundred feet. Wireless transmission media are used when it is inconvenient, impractical, or impossible to install cables. Infrared (ir) is a transmission medium that sends signals using infrared light waves. Broadcast radio: it is a wireless transmission medium that distributes radio signals through air over long (two cities) or short distances (within home). Broadcast radio is more vulnerable to noise than wired transmission. Bluetooth: it is an alternative to infrared communications. These days, short-range radio waves to transmit data between two bluetooth devices at speed of about 24 mbps.
