Clinical depression: free floating, not caring: can"t do anything, horrifying despair, life is horrifying, you feel terrified but do not know why, goes on for several weeks, everyday, sad hopeless, feeling blue, feeling like its not worth it. Brain development: well in 20"s the front is still growing, in teens, the emotional parts have more control. Ellie: had intrusive thoughts shame, postpartum depression: anxiety after childbirth, becoming a new mother, hormone make up of women, they lack aggression, genetic vulnerability, environmental factors, traumatic events as poverty. College students have a higher rate of depression and anxiety. To be living suicidal, you do things that will hurt you or kill you: alcoholism, not caring. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Terrie: lack of excitement/enthusiasm, low grade smoldering depression, can still work but its there, did not know it was there, did not know the seriousness, stigma of depression. Phillip: took so many meds, anti depressants, stimulants.
