2 groups are formed: ashkenazi jews and the safari jews. The torah: the basic laws that expressed the relationship between the people and god. The book of leviticus is very demanding. Orthodox - follow the rules that god laid out. Conservative - the in-between of the orthodox and the reformists. Reform - believed it is acceptable to interpret god"s rule. Some of the laws are no longer applicable . Most of the jewish people are ashkenazi jews, who came from northern europe. Kashrut: jewish dietary laws set down in the torah and explained in the talmud; means fit . Kashrut is to maintain a proper relationship to god. Fish are permitted to eat as food, but they are not allowed to have scales. Reptiles & amphibians are not allowed as food, unless they have been washed . Although honey came from the bee, it is not considered to be from bee.
