ATM 103 Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: National Climate Assessment, Evaporation, Cold Days
Document Summary
Nationally: in addition to the ipcc reports, the u. s. Global change research program (usgcrp) creates it own reports. The 3rd national climate assessment (nca) was released in may 2014. This work focuses on the unites states! Based on the scientific foundation of our understanding of the earth"s climate, we predict with virtual certainty. The average global temperature of the earth"s surface will continue to rise because of the continued increase of human-caused addition into the atmosphere of gases that hold heat close to the surface. Historically stable masses of ice on land will melt. Extremes are a natural component of a stable climate. Some of the projections (to name a few): Warmer and fewer cold days and nights. Hotter and more frequent hot days and nights. Adaptation is responding to changes that might occur from added co2. Mitigation is controlling the amount of co2 we put in the atmosphere.
