Defines what the company is all about. Mission = relatively simple: defines what the company is doing today. Vision statement = what the company is going to be like years from now. Mission and vision statement are public documents. Things that go into mission and vision: what products/services/industries are you going to be involved in, who are your customers who are you going to be marketing to. 3 segments: consumer, business/industrial/commercial, government & non-profit: how are you going to do what you say you plan on doing (how are you going to accomplish it) Any activity in a company consists of 3 stages: planning, implementation, delivery to a customer . Somebody who buys a product (marketing and sales definition) Anybody in the company who is the recipient of someone else"s work ( management definition) Every one of those activities carry cost.
