Document Summary

In a reversible process, both the forward and reverse process will occur simultaneously as long as both the reactant and product are present. Dynamic equilibrium: is when both reactions [the forward and the reverse] continue to occur when concentration no longer changes. When dynamic equilibrium occurs, the total reactant and product will remain unchanged. A ratio of constants is also a constant. The ratio of the forward reaction over the reverse reaction is known as the equilibrium constant k. K is the constant value for a particular system at a fixed temperature. When k is very small, it means that the process consists of mostly reactants. If k is very large, then the process consists of mostly products. If k = 1. 0 then the reactant and the product is comparable in similar amounts. Law of chemical equilibrium / law of mass action.
