We"ll call this the area of interest or center frequency: band pass filters can be made by linking hp and lp filters in series. Inductors: we"ve already seen that passing a current through a piece of wire creates a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow of current, this is called magnetic induction. If we make a loop of the wire and place in into an electrical circuit, it has a profound effect on the current. They do this by storing energy in a magnetic field. Similar to capacitors, which store energy in an electric field. While capacitors act as resistors to low frequencies, inductors act like resistors to high frequencies: for dc and inductor acts as a short circuit. For ac, as the frequency increases, the impedance of the inductor increases. Just as we"ve created lp, hp, bp, and bs filters with resistors and capacitors, we can also create these same types of filters with resistors and inductors.
