Mandatory national service - like the military draft. Almost half of all adults favor mandatory national service. National service pointed towards the younger population, who are more likely to be drafted. The younger someone is, the more they tend to oppose it. Speaker of the house (only 10% of americans can identify) Public opinion moves in sensible and predictable ways. Aggregate public opinion responds to change political conditions. Those errors can go in either direction. Aware/informed (and independent) individuals respond to changing conditions.
