Influences people"s social behavior: ex tobacco, alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, govt puts heavy taxes on things like tobacco ( a pack for cigarettes) Many tobacco companies started exporting products to other regions of the world when us smoking levels decreased, contributed to global market: different policies on drugs: cocaine vs crack. Guns and weapons: trade of weapons is important to global economy, big issue in us, ties to 2nd amendment. Increase in innocent bystanders: mass shootings, many other developed countries don"t have the same rates of mass shootings because of tighter gun regulations than us, regulations on who can have access to guns varies by country. Different types of crime: urban vs rural, cities: high unemployment for those with less education, rural: social dislocation due to political, social conflict, lack of employment. Increasing rents in nyc, can"t afford to live/survive. Small crimes: blue collar: illegal gambling, drugs, murder, organized crime, mafias, drug cartels.
