Choose or create a theory that fits with the determinants from step 2. Describe educational philosophy and how it can influence your lesson. Identify your own beliefs and perspectives about nutrition and food content. Strength of the evidence for use of the theory constructs (need to know where the audience is in the stages of change) If mostly unaware or unengaged: choose a theory focusing on motivational factors (health belief model) If already motivated: choose a theory that helps the audience translate motivations and intentions into action (social cognitive theory would be appropriate)
