Document Summary

Soc 101 - week 6 - the study of deviance / global war & terror. In order to understand where we are in terms of global war, and the potential for it, one must understand the cycle of capitalism. Late 1940s: the beginning of a new long cycle of capitalism. Wwii resets economy, consumerism becomes huge, industrialization, etc. It develops within us and we become a superpower and global police . Increasing automation of jobs occurs and picks up pace throughout the cycle. Consequentially, credit bubbles form as citizens and businesses go into debt to innovate. Global war is likely and serves 3 purposes: Every nation tries to cap protesting to save face and economic gain and normally the best way to do this is blame other countries for internal problems. War brings aggregate demand and supply back into balance. There is a large disconnect between the two after a long cycle of capitalism.
