No other site in the us is comparable to chaco canyon. Crescent moon marks spot in sky, hand marks it as sacred. Richard weatherroe found a massive grave of over 14 people. 1 man found with lots of grave goods. 14 women that did not die naturally (hole in skulls: possible wives to this high ranking man. 2 million years ago chaco canyon was under water, but after the water receded, it left a canyon. No great body of water near chaco canyon. Chaco people did not have horses or carts to carry wood. Mastered environment to create wood and stone houses. Lived in harmony with the landscape, now long gone. Anazani people were mobible people until chaco canyon.
