Book 4: the shortest book of the aeneid and perhaps the most unsettling, centered on the tragic love affair between aeneas and dido, the queen of carthage, after hearing aeneas"s story, dido is more in love with aeneas. Aeneas and dido nd shelter in the same cave and make love. Dido considers it as a marriage: rumor spreads. Aeneas tells her that he needs to accomplish his task: dido sees the trojan eet leaving and falls into despair. Dido"s dilemma: faithfulness to her dead husband, passion for aeneas, she is a woman of absolute moral integrity; she knows that there is no solution, => called infelix dido , juno and venus conspire together for different purposes. !1: => dido is not responsible for her passions, she tries to oppose it and asks for help from her sister but receives encouragement.
