Intro to environmental change - for quiz 1. The world is getting warmer and this is going to lead to a loss of glaciers and sea ice that will ultimately cause sea levels to rise. Warming temps + population growth + increased mobility has potential to create global pandemics (i. e. ebola outbreak last year) Since the physical environment is the basis for and is elected by human activity, we are vulnerable to environmental change, whether caused by human activity or natural processes. Ooding can be caused by changes in climate, tectonic activity, land cover change, and direct alterations to the hydrologic cycle. Deserti cation and drought are a perfect example of how environmental change is climatically driven but culturally primed. You can observe change in the environment if you look carefully; depends on how often you open your eyes and how long you keep them open.
