Revolution grows straight out of series of wars that england fought. Was fought mainly in na and england won. In securing victory they kicked the french out of north america. England was ran into debt due to this war & look to america to help pay for it. For a long time england had been following a theory (mercantilism) and it means that the colonies should benefit england. Officers who fought in the war are going back to england and saying that the typical american colonist was better off than the typical. Parliment was alarmed as colonists were supposed to be economically subordinate. Reorganization of the empire: proclamation of 1763. For the english this is about control and profiting from the fur trade. Frankly it"s a paper rule and the american colonists ignore it: sugar act (1764) England wants to keep a sizable army in north america and this costs money.
