Medical model: saw it as physical illness and required treatment, insane asylums- isolate them from society, treated like animals. Moral treatment: treated them like people, actually get better, not enough for the severe mental disorders though, until creation of drugs to treat disorders like schizophrenia. People able to leave asylums and enter society again. But can"t force people to take medication, doesn"t work for everyone. Generalized anxiety disorder: most common, affects 3rd of population after major life change, stressor, constant symptoms: insomnia, panic attacks, sweating, physical tension.
