Who gets stis: usa has highest sti rates of any industrialized country, half of new infections are in 15 24 year olds, half of americans will contract at least one sti in their lifetimes. Infected people may or may not be promiscuous. **a person can transmit sti"s to another person even when the infected person is asymptomatic. Want to be sure not to get an sti: don"t have sex. Safer sex: minimizes the chances of sti"s, mutually faithful, long-term monogamy, trust and honesty, consistent, careful condom use. Causes inflammation on the urethra for men. About 10-35% of men show no symptoms. Invades the cervix usually spreads to uterus and fallopian tubes since women are asymptomatic and often go untreated. Chapter 5: sexually transmitted infections & sexually related diseases. Most women show no symptoms during the early stage. Condoms help prevent these membranes from touching: early symptoms in the initial stage, for some people. Burning/irritating of the urethra doesn"t necessarily hurt.
