Fought the Klu Klux Klan
Congress passed a bill called the Klu Klux Act to give Grant ability to fight the Klan with government
forces forcing them underground
Reconstruction Amendments:
13th amendment- abolishes slavery in the US
-Lincoln lived to see it passed but not ratified by the states
14th amendment- all persons born in the US are subject to the jurisdiction of citizens,
-states shall not deny due process or equal protection
15th amendment- the right of the citizens of the US to vote shall not be denied the US or by any
state on account of race, color
