ABA 5304 Lecture 12: Prep Guide 12
Document Summary
Delayed imitation: a form of imitation that involves a lag of time between the behavior and the imitation of the behavior. Direct (innate) imitation: imitation that occurs immediately, no time/delay between observing action and imitating it. Generalized imitation: individual performs same action as model (do as i do). Operant imitation: imitative behavior that is a function of its consequences (learned imitation). Rule-governed behavior (more sensitive): verbally controlled behavior that is maintained by indirect-acting contingencies and has delayed consequences. Contingency-shaped behavior: behavior that has immediate, direct consequences. Skinner defines a rule asa verbally encoded guideline with a function altering stimulus that alters behavior of the individual in the presence of another stimulus. Written: we do not allow students to run in the hall.
