Document Summary
Motivation to be an outsider and document it. She did all three critical roles for car culture (lowriders) 2. people that build or customize the cars. She modeled the car and made her own documentary about the experience. Sexualizes herself in order to make the documentary. She proves that a woman can occupy all three roles. She"s subverting the binary and taking on the stereotypical roles and playing with and messing with the roles. In order to make a good and realistic documentary she had to become a part of the culture, she submerges herself into that culture. She does not address race in any way. How gender is constructed through the film. Masculinity constructing through driving fast and harsh. Measured, reserved, in control - the driver. Trying to protect her and follow her and keep her safe. Embody power because they are intimidating and large. They were portrayed as dumb, they"re only asset is their physicality.
