I would have sacrificed my trekking trip to ensure that the sadhu reaches safety. If you analyze the situation in economic terms, the opportunity cost of ensuring the sadhu"s safety is the trek over the pass. Personally, i would not be able to live with myself knowing i left a human in the freezing cold to die. There is one instance that comes to mind after watching the parable of the sadhu when i was coming to school on the subway. I have to change trains at city hall from the market frankford line to the broad street line in order to get to campus. There are two sets of stairs that you need to go down in order to get to the northbound platform. Once you get down that staircase, you can see if the next train is getting onto the platform or not.
