Give us a framework by which we can test our ideas. First four stages form the foundation for the adult personality. Development - acquisition of association between stimulus and response. Little albert experiment - associating rabbit and loud noise. 1 between environmental stimulus and naturally occurring stimulus. Classical conditioning - learning process that occurs through associations. Positive and negative reinforcements interact in complex ways. Parents told to look for the abcs: Antecedents - what to look for before the behavior. Learning results from seeing a model reinforced or punished for behavior. We learn from others about ourselves, our capabilities. Believed children progressed through stages in a prescribed way. Scheme - a way in which you know how to do something. Change scheme as a result of new information. Assisting just the right amount to push someone to learn more. That little push to get you on the right track, baby steps. The edge of what you know and don"t know.
