Perceiving the question: you find a description. Forming a hypothesis: from a possible explanation otherwise known as a hypothesis. Testing the hypothesis: gather the data (survey, interview, focus group, etc) and manipulate. Report your results: summary of the success or failure of your study in specific steps so that it can be replicated by others. Variable-what the researcher is manipulating or researching. Independent variable (iv)-a variable that stands alone and isn"t changed by the other variables you are trying to measure. Dependent variable (dv)-a variable that changes based on other factors. (independent variable) causes a change in (dependent variable) and it"s not possible that (dependent variable) could cause a change in (independent variable) Control group-the group that receives no manipulation and serves as a baseline for the group that is being manipulated. Experimental group-the group that receives the manipulation with the variable that is being tested (iv) Section factor-bias that occurs when subjects get to choose their outcome.
