Attack rate- common epi stat used during id outbreaks. Type of incidence used when the occurrence of disease among a population at risk increases greatly over a short period of time. Isolation- separates sick people with contagious disease from people who aren"t sick. Quarantine- separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick wait out the incubation period. Isolation requires people to be sick to be separated. Quarantine- healthy people exposed to id to prevent transition if the infection occurs. Police power- state has ability to take action to safeguard the health of people. Social distancing: voluntary, recommended limitation of physical contact with outer people 3 ft distance no shaking of hands. Federal isolation and quarantine are authorized for cholera, diphtheria, tb, plague, smallpox, and yellow fever ebola sars. Comes from the commerce clause of the us constitution.
