Underlying assumptions: life is rational and everything communicates something, the need to connect is biological, the ability to connect successfully is leaned, you have to acknowledge what things/people and what they are telling you. The chair will not allow you to lay down in it that is a signal. What is civility: awareness there are people around us, empathy how others feel, an active choice choose to do right things. Civility being civil means being constantly aware of others and weaving restraint, respect, and consideration into the very fabric of this awareness. 3 criteria of civil communication: respect for all involved, restraint just (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause you (cid:272)a(cid:374), does(cid:374)"t (cid:373)ea(cid:374) you should, responsibility take consequences. Civil communication is the choice we make to communicate on the basis of respect, restraint, and responsibility: safe place civil space = where we are treated with respect and dignity wherever you go.
