Document Summary

India"s civilization is the oldest in continuous existence. Civilization in mesopotamia and egypt emerged around 4000 bce. It emerged in india around 3000 bce and china around 2000 bce. Like mesopotamia and egypt, indus civilization centered around a river. The so-called indus civilization is the clearly traceable ancestor of indian civilization. The indian subcontinent is massive it extends from the mountain borders of. Afghanistan to the bay of bengal on the east and from the towering himalayas to the southern top of the peninsula. It is about the size of europe, but contains far more diverse peoples. Unlike egypt, it was seldom been united under one ruler. In our time, it comprises the countries of pakistan, india, nepal, bangladesh, and sri. Compared to other ancient civilizations scholars know comparably less about indus civilization because indus writing is not as widely deciphered as other ancient language. However, we know that it differs markedly from sumerian cuneiform and egyptian hieroglyphics.
