Chronic disease = long duration and usually slow progression, require medical attention over time, and/or limit the ability to perform activities of daily living. Chronic disease self-management = ongoing process by which individuals with a chronic illness or condition engages in self-management of medications, symptoms, and promoting of their own health and can be applied to both noncommunicable and communicable chronic disease. Cultural shift = change in society"s dominant views, morals, and behaviors. Disability-adjusted life years (daly) = measurement of the gap that exists between the ideal health status of disease and disability free population that lives to an advanced age. Health-adjusted life expectancy (hale) = re ects the average number of years that a person can expect to live in good health by adjusting for disease or injury.
