Document Summary

Radical performance art using her own body. Use of body has transformed- she doesn"t use her own body anymore, but instead her own bodily presence. March 13th- may 31st at the museum of modern art in nyc. Began from opening and closing of the museum times. The audience were encouraged to sit in front of her in silence for as long as they wanted. The artist wanted to achieve an energy dialogue with the audience. This performance attracted more than 850,000 visitors. Challenges human instinct- such as silence with someone else. Nobody could imagine that especially in new york, the busiest city in the world, that anyone will just take time to sit. Surprising to see how many people that actually would take time to sit and connect. Society makes people so distant- texting without seeing. For this exhibit people waited outside all night so that they could sit with her.
