Organizations: are controlling the crimes from afar, corporations of organized crimes - wide scope of different activities. Determine what types of crimes will occur in their controlled areas: structure of organized crime: Informal : no de nite leader or groups of leaders, you can arrest someone and another person will take their place. Business : one leader, easier to shut down, political motivations/terrorism: Start from political or ideological agenda, but engage in non-ideologically-based criminal activities: role of organized crime (and effects): Same understanding of businesses (legal v. illegal) Will create businesses based on what the public needs. Small businesses: don"t get a lot of attention to keep their businesses going. Risk diminished when they can bribe public of cials. Still going on because politicians have collaboration with crime groups: keep them getting money.
