The number of violent o enders on probation and parole in the community outnumbers the number of violent o enders in prison. Could be substituted by the death penalty. Truth in sentencing: longer sentences and more time served before parole. President"s commission on law enforcement and administration of justice: done by president lyndon b. johnson, report from president"s commission was released in 1967. This report was titled, the challenge of crime in a free society : most detailed look that"s ever been done on the cjs. New programs and ideas came out of it. Brought together the whole idea of a system (turned into the idea of the cjs: info on it: Firs to look at cj as a system. : every crime is the failure of community as well as a failing of the individual. Can see/hear that you cannot solve crime problems without the community. Friday, september 1, 2017: prisons should be seen as a last resort.
