1. What are some of the pros and cons of being an influencer? Of following an influencer?
Pros of being an influencer:
A lot of money if one influences the right way.
Social media has a strong voice; nowadays, anybody can sell anything they own,
or others own with the help of social media.
Cons of being an influencer:
Influencer marketing yields no results for months. There is a possibility that one
might not get recognition at all, therefore an influencer could lose a lot of money
for buying expensive things on their own and trying to promote them.
Sometimes a company might pay influencers a lot of money or free products for
publication, which could put them under pressure to give the products good
reviews. But the products might not be very good in real. This could lead the
viewers to invest in the wrong products and it might also hurt the influencers
publicity after being blamed for giving bad reviews.
Pros for following an influencer:
If the viewer wants to be an influencer himself then he could follow the influencer
as a guide and follow the same path.
People can know the real value of products and compare them to other products.
Saves them from having bad experience with products or wasting money.
Cons for following an influencer:
An influencer has a very different life and opinions. If he/she likes something, it
isn’t necessary that the person being influenced might like it too. This could lead
to bad investment sometimes.
It could be very hard to find an influencer who has the same taste as yours. Many
influencers are very specific in what they sell.
2. Authenticity seems to be the main selling point of using an influencer to advertise a
product. How can you tell when someone is being authentic?
One can know the authenticity of an influencer by checking out various other influencers
who are selling the same thing. If their reviews are similar mostly then it could prove the
authenticity of the influencer. The hard way to learn their authenticity is by actually
buying the products they’re selling and later regretting it.
