Saudi arabia was scarce in terms of its water resources prior to the introduction of the center-pivot irrigation system (cpi). The shortage of water was so profound that towns like al". Isawiyah and tubarjal could not be adequately sustained. Due to the fact that these desert lands were so barren, saudi arabia used its abundant supply of oil revenues to adopt technologies and repair its environment. The once water barren area was able to transform into a food-producing and green climate after the implementation of the irrigation system. These changes were necessary in order for the local climate to make full use of all of its resources and with the availability of water there are more opportunities for the towns to flourish. As the population continues to rise, so does the demand for water. Individuals often take for granted the availability of this resource and ignore the harsh reality that we are killing our planet.
