Spanish and portuguese end up in the indian ocean for the first time (1450s) 1492 columbus offers his service to ferdinand and isabel and they agree to let him go on his voyage to south east asia. In reality the natives have gold because they traded. Columbus believes that the islands have gold and that the natives are wearing gold. Columbus slaves people and presents his idea to ferdinand and isabel. Columbus goes to prison because he is in debt and can"t pay ferdinand and isabel back. Extracting gold and silver is the most important thing. Aztec empire about one quarter million people under the control of aztec people. Conquistadors are largely warriors drawn from aristocratic experiences. Europeans spread diseases to indigenous people 1/10 of the population survives.
