Document Summary
Intro to community behavior models and program planning models. Determinants -------- immediate outcomes ------ health outcomes. Civic engagement and participation in decision making. Changing a behavior is a function of the following kinds of factors: A person"s sense of self- efficacy about a new behavior, the confidence that they can overcome obstacles (barriers) to doing it. The social/ physical environment surrounding individuals (including the modeling behavior of others) The interactive process of reciprocal determinism, where a person interacts with an environment, receives a response from the environment, adjusts behavior, interacts again, etc. Sct is very complex; it can be viewed as less of a theory than a related grab-bag of constructs. Innovation- an idea, object, or practice that is thought to be new by an individual, organization, or community. Communication channels- the means of transmitting the new idea from one person to another. Social systems- a group of individuals who together adopt the innovation.
