Many people criicize tv because it had the power to be the greatest mass medium to educate mass audiences of people and bring them together, but decided to go the cheap route. People also argue that it promotes obesity, staying inside, it can mess neurologically with your brain, etc. It is a visual medium which is one of its greatest strengths, however, it also must have good video in order to be displayed on tv (therefore also a weakness) Tv is biased the television (medium) itself is biased in favor of video and emoion: (a. k. a. entertainment) Television irst came on the scene in 1947, & got big in 1950s. Tv grows throughout the 1950s and 1960s: 1955 65% of households have a tv, 1961 89% of households have a tv, today 99% of households have a tv. Broadcast tv roughly makes billion a year. Cable tv roughly makes . 4 billion a year.
