Objectives: epidemiologic transition - concept that is not related to demographic transition, social determinants of health- social factors that play a role, older adults & the health care system - shallow overview of how health care is organized in the us. Spreading disease through the population, one group to another. Costs rise for health care when needing more help: health behavior. Making health decisions: compression of morbidity thesis. Improvements of health care and preventative care compresses amount of years you live with health concerns. Compressing the ill / sick / severely disabled years to the end of your life. Social determinants of health: life style- patterns of behavior / choices. **not everyone has the same choices to make.
