Each person"s imagination has been formed by histories of power/ history of making oneself legible to the state. Anthropology is the study of humanity in all of its diversity, humans wildly vary in many ways different peoples live in different environments, natures. In the same way, people change in different ways. The definitions of nature are often definitions of human nature and what humans are. They matter in a world undergoing significant climate change. Should we be imaging new technologies: reject reductionism (a major point in anthropology and prof. "s major goal, we cannot reduce nature to a single thing, to a single law. But we need to understand the assumptions behind this question. The most important natures in terms of environmental justice, policy, etc, are those that are right in front of our noses. They are the things often under our noses, small bits of nature that are there, but we may not even consider.
