Injuries are among the main causes of death for the u. s. population. In 2010, 147,000 americans died as a result of injuries. Injuries are the single greatest killer of americans between the ages of one and forty-four. Injuries a(cid:272)(cid:272)ount for : eight percent of all hospital discharges, thirty-seven percent of all emergency department visits, thirty-five percent of all ems transports.
