Wilson"s speech professor talking down to a student describing why italy could not have what they wanted. Pm saw him as having little respect to the sacrifices italy had made in the war. Treaty of rapallo: november 1920; fiume is declared an independent city, government of d"annunzio is disavowed and is supposed to disband; but d"annunzio refuses and declares war on italy. Revealed that there was strong expansionist feeling among the people and the government. Lira fell to 1/6 of pre-war value in 1922.
