A rhythm refers to the combination of notes of various durations: beats- how one measures the time in music. Meter- a recurring pattern of strong and weak beats. The basic, repeating time structure of a piece of rhythm. However, the rhythm of the melody often varies from the repeating pulse of the meter. Each individual occurrence of this pattern is called a measure or a bar. The two primary types of meter: duple meter. The beats are grouped i(cid:374) sets of t(cid:449)o"s or four"s (cid:894)di(cid:448)isi(cid:271)le (cid:271)y 2(cid:895: triple meter.
