C elegans 20k genes work on it allowed for discovery of apoptosis & rna interference. Drosophila 75% of human diseases have fly orthologues. Zebra fish developmental biology, cancer research, toxicology, reproductive biology, stem cell biology, evolutionary theory: cheap, easy to keep, regenerates tissues, can do rapid experimentation b/c develops v quickly. Chimera = made of 2 cell types. Injecting embryonic stem cells (from one mice) into inner cell mass (of other mouse) means they are incorporated & form chimera. Mature udder cell put into unfertilised egg /w nucleus removed. Dolly worked from 1 out of 277 tries. Therapeutic cloning creating stem cells to negate need for transplants. Take stem cells from blastocyst (endo/ecto/meso) cultivate in culture dish & grow specific tissues no rejection at all. Thin/thick ascending limb movement of sodium out of filtrate (in one area there is active transport but in other area there is diffusion)
