Brain damage can able a person to learn new skills but not know they learned them. Electroconvulsive (shock) therapy is effective for sever depression. Groups of research strategies: description, correlation ex: case studies, surveys, and naturalistic observations ex: theories and experiments, experimentation. Problems generalize from one or a few people. Anecdotal evidence sounds convincing, but not necessarily true. Research strategies population- all cases in a group, from which samples may be drawn for a study sample- participants in your study random sample- fairly represents the population because each member has an equal chance of inclusion. Use random sampling in order to minimize bias. Then we can generalize to the population.
