In the apraxia video, the mother does not correct the child, she models how he should speak. The young man in the video is happy. Organic: caused by an identifiable problem in the neuromuscular mechanism. Articulation: evaluate a student"s abilities to produce speech sounds in single words, sentences, and conversation. In the apraxia example, the boy could not articulate but he could create sounds. Voice: include information about the onset and course of the voice problem, environmental factors that might affect vocal quality, and typical use of voice. Fluency: amount of dysfluency as well as the type of duration of dysfluencies. Bi-dialectal: uses two variations of a language. Must determine whether a bilingual student should be tested in the student"s first language or in english. Acc systems are physical objects that consist of integrated components to support the communication abilities of individuals who cannot meet their communication needs through speaking.
