The view that society is divided into two or more groups with competing ideas and values. The group(s) with the most power make the laws and control society. Process of teaching and learning values, norms, and customs through example and the application of positive and negative social sanctions. Keeps you in line with society"s values and norms. The entire process of lawmaking, law-breaking, and law enforcement viewed as a power struggle between competing economic and political interest groups. Those in power will continue to make laws that will keep them in power (whether they break the rules or not) In general conflict theory, it has some support. Conflict theory specific to criminal behavior - research is very rare. You have to admit that conflict is a necessary evil in society.
